Playdays Nursery has a full Health and Safety Policy in place. This policy and procedures are available to read during induction sessions. All policies and procedures including Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Collections, First Aid and Illness are displayed within the entrance hall, and located in the nursery ‘Policies and Procedures’ file, which is available upon request.
If at any time you are unhappy please speak to us. The nursery has a complaints procedure and all matters will be dealt with positively, professionally and within realms of confidentiality.
The wellbeing of each and every child is of paramount importance. Staff will receive regular Safeguarding and Child Protection training. Staff will liaise where necessary with other professionals to ensure that the needs of every child are met.
The nursery Safeguarding Lead Practitioner (SLP) is KERRY SHEPHARD [owner/manager].
All staff will receive training in Paediatric First Aid (as recognised by Ofsted).
If you are unable to collect your child and an alternative adult is given permission, we ask that you advise the nursery prior to collection. Playdays will not permit any child to leave the setting with an unauthorised person.
Illness and Absence
Details of nursery requirements for illness and medication absences are stated within the nursery policies and procedures. ln addition notices are displayed on notice board within the entrance hall.
Upon receipt of a completed registration form, all applications will be placed on our waiting list. As availability arises parents will be contacted with an offer of acceptance. Registration forms must be completed in full prior to inductions.
When sessions are accepted, induction sessions will be given. These are one hour sessions free of charge for approximately 3 or more sessions over a two-week period. Sessions will commence when inductions are complete.
During initial inductions, parents are required to remain on the premises. The room leader will introduce you to staff within the room and throughout the nursery. You will be guided through the nursery to see in full what we have to offer. During inductions there will be additional consent forms for completion along with sharing of information regarding your child's interests and routines.
Room leaders will explain our daily routines and answer any questions you may have. Our induction pack and parent guide to the EYFS will be given to every parent.
We recognise that a child will not learn or play confidently if they are anxious or unhappy. Caring staff will support your child in their separation from you.
Nursery Staff are here to help you as well as support your child. We value a strong working parent partnership.
The Nursery will have parent evenings once per term. This allows time for busy working parents to come in and talk about their child's time with us, view their child's room and displays and become involved in our day.
The Nursery regular invites parents in to celebrate with us a number of events and celebrations, which have included Easter Afternoon Tea, Halloween Parties, Nativity Play and more.
Funding and Vouchers
The setting offers Educational Voucher Funded Sessions as per current government guidance. These can be taken daily as morning or afternoon sessions or incorporated into full day or full time care. Top up fees will be due where sessions exceed funded hours and meals and for sessions outside of term [term dates are specified by Norfolk County Council].
The nursery accepts Two Year Funding.
Special Education Needs [SEN]
Playdays will promote the welfare and interests of the child whilst supporting them and their family to the best of our ability. Our aim is that the child will reach their full potential within the nursery with staff supporting transitions into school. Our trained SENCO will liaise with parents and other professionals involved in individual care.
Playdays aims to ensure that every child within the setting has the best possible start, setting strong foundations for their future learning years.
